TON blockchain network back online after brief outage

Published

on

The Open Network (TON), a layer-1 blockchain closely integrated with the Telegram messaging platform, experienced a temporary halt in block production on June 1 due to an error in the masterchain dispatch queue. The issue was identified at 12:51 UTC and resolved approximately 40 minutes later by updating a subset of masterchain validators.

TON developers assured users that no funds were affected during the outage and that all transactions submitted during the downtime remained secure.

This incident highlights the challenges faced by high-throughput blockchain networks, where increased complexity can lead to occasional disruptions. Despite such challenges, TON continues to attract significant interest from both retail and institutional investors. In March 2025, the network secured $400 million in funding from prominent venture capital firms, including Sequoia Capital, Draper Associates, CoinFund, and SkyBridge.

The recent outage follows previous disruptions in August 2024, which were attributed to high demand for the DOGS memecoin, leading to network congestion and temporary halts in block production.

As TON continues to evolve and expand its ecosystem, maintaining network stability remains a priority to ensure user confidence and support ongoing growth.
