An Indian district has adopted Avalanche blockchain technology to digitize over 700,000 land records, ensuring transparency and security. The Dantewada District Administration in Chhattisgarh collaborated with blockchain startup LegitDoc to store historical land records dating back to the 1950s. Officials emphasize that this initiative will streamline access and verification, reducing delays for citizens.

The government has also installed kiosks across sub-districts, allowing easy access to land records while maintaining security through permission-based authorization. This move aims to prevent fraud and disputes by providing immutable records.

LegitDoc CEO Neil Martis confirmed that district revenue officers can securely search and verify land records using blockchain. The system supports various government documents, including ownership records and cadastral maps. Blockchain’s verifiability ensures landowners and authorities can trust the system without fear of tampering.

Avalanche representatives praised the project as a model for large-scale land record digitization. The initiative is expected to reduce legal costs, secure tribal land rights, and modernize property management in India. Officials believe blockchain could revolutionize land governance nationwide.
