US senator has called for people to buy bitcoin and save it as part of their retirement plan.
Us senator Cynthia Lummis revealed she had more than $100,000 invested in the crypto and has future plans to buy and save more.
Speaking at the financial summit hosted by CNBC the Republican lawmaker stated she hoped the crypto industry grows and is nurtured and regulation are brought up to speed with the financial and technological advancements that bitcoin brings to the table
“I would like to see crypto currency, like bitcoin, become part of a diversified asset allocation that is used in retirement funds and other opportunities for people to save for the future.”
Senator Lummis revealed that she personally owned five bitcoins, having bought the first one for $330 back in 2013. At the current market rates, 5 BTC is worth roughly $168,000.
